The smartmontools software package contains two utility programs (smartctl and smartd) to control and monitor storage systems using the Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology System (SMART) built into most modern ATA and SCSI harddisks. In many cases, these utilities will provide advanced warning of disk degradation and failure.

I use it for years now and join the developers team since April 2008. My first task was a relaunch of the old website

In July 2009 I moved smartmontools repository from CVS to Subversion to prepare the ground for TRAC as our new bug-tracker application. In September 2009 we started to use the TRAC-Wiki as official homepage of the project.
